U OK, I have to apologize in advance - I hate trashing
albums, but this one needs it. Israeli prog is hard to find
- and if you do find a good band it is usually a gem (Sheshet,
for example, which is close to a 5 star self-titled album
from the same band in the mid 70's - buy it immediately if
you can find it). This one, however, is very weak in my opinion.
These guys are jazzy, VERY laid back prog with some sax,
piano, and not much melody. I get the feeling that nothing
is going on, and can't distinguish any song from the other
if asked. The sound just seems... unfilled. Lots of space
with not much happening. The melodies are bad also - which
doesn't help things. Vocals are simply OK. I bought this album
because the description of these guys sounded inviting (jazzy
prog with ethnic touches can be great - see Sheshet mentioned
above and also Itoiz, a fantastic mid 70's band from Spain,
in the Basque region). However - these guys sound like elevator
music at their best.
Nothing prog here in my opinion. Rating: 1.5 stars
