Antony Kalugin and the Karfagen star still shines in
the Ukraine. With Karfagen - 7, Kalugin and company deliver
another fine piece of prog music 7 is a journey of myths
and truth within the imagination and luck and the great
power of the number 7 though an album with the breath of
70's prog influence. It all begins with the epic opening
track Seven Gates,28 and a half minutes of excellent music, nice
compositions with touches of Camel, some Canterbury sound
and a little wisp of The Flower Kings.Great musicianship
with some very fine keys(including some pipe organ)by Antony
and some of his best singing to date.Max is as always excellent
on guitar with no thrashing or showing off. Olha Rostovska
on backup vocals is wonderful.Overall a solid album of 4
really good songs including the really nice track 4 Alight
Again (a wonderful song) plus a somewhat shorter edit (15
minutes)version of Seven Gates.Despite Kalugin's not so
great recent Sunchild work this new Karfagen fills the bill
and is very nice album.4 solid stars.
