Karmankanic features Jonas Reingold (bass player with
The Flower Kings) and Goran Edman on vocals plus guests include
fellow Flower Kings band member Tomas Bodin (keys) and Andy
Tillison (The Tangent). This is the third album by the band
and lovers of classic progressive rock mixed with some fusion
and jazz will enjoy the music on offer here.
The nineteen minutes of 'Send A Message From The Heart'
opens the album in suitably grand style and is not unlike
the Flower Kings with its vocal melodies, grandiose keys and
swooping guitar solos. The title track veers into too much
jazz/fusion for my own musical tastes but even so you just
listen and marvel at the musical arrangements and musicianship
on display. 'Two Blocks From The Edge' reminded me of Pink
Floyd when the latter band used saxes or Camel circa 'The
Snow Goose' album. Great, classy 70's prog music. The two
part 'Eternally' closes the album and features some accordion
to add variety plus Goran Edman gets to shine with his melodic
tones backed by piano and strings.
Definitely of interest to fans of the Flower Kings and
the classic 70's progressive music of bands like Pink Floyd,
Camel and Gentle Giant.
