The Review

Pleasantly surprised by this DVD! This is definately the best concert DVD released by the band. I'm not sure what that says about the band since they are minus a couple of original members (Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas) with only Justin Hayward, John Lodge, and Graeme Edge, with the keyboards and flute being filled out with Paul Bliss and Norda Mullen who both do an excellent job. Norda plays the flute even better than I could imagine Ray Thomas could have done. Also the addition of a second drummer really enhanced the band. There are various other musicians that occasionally join in as well playing horns and strings.

This concert was indeed a magical night for the Moodys performing some of the best versions I have ever heard them do live of some of their most interesting songs. They even play a few that I have never heard them do before in concert which makes this show even more special. The absolute highlight of the show for me was when they performed "Higher And Higher" (from my favorite Moodys CD "To Our Children's Children's Children" and Graeme Edge jumped up from his drum set and began dancing all around the stage with high energy intact, whilst playing the tambourine (a-la Phil Collins). Great stuff and very exciting part of the show. Another great surprise was when Justin Hayward played a song (Forever Autumn) which he contributed to the "War Of The Worlds" soundtrack that came out back in the late seventies. They play several great rockers and of course they play some of the most beautiful songs ever written (such as "December Snow" and "Night In White Satin) by anyone as well. You really can't watch this DVD without some of these songs moving you to tears. That's the magic of this band - to make your heart feel the real. Even after all these years. - Russ Bellinger April 2006
