$5 a day is the story of a father, Nat, (Christopher
Walken) and his struggle to patch up the relationship with
his son, Flynn (Alessandro Nivola). In this heart warming
comedy Nat is a wheeling dealing hustler who is diagnosed
with a terminal illness, but his son has long since stopped
trusting him. Nat manages to con his son into travelling
with him to an experimental treatment centre, the problem
is they can only afford to spend $5 a day on the long journey.
They come up with ever more ridiculous schemes in order
to keep within their daily allowance. Other stars include
Sharon Stone, Amanda Peet, Peter Coyote and Dean Cain. Christopher
Walken is the perfect charmer and his relationship with
his son is both touching and funny, with his character Nat
putting his con tricks to good use. Sharon Stone is also
very good as Nat’s friend and Flynn’s former babysitter.
