Review: |
As season two of “7th Heaven” unfolds
we find the Camdens dealing with the aftermath of Mary’s (Catherine
Hicks) surgery which occurred at the conclusion of the previous
season. Eric (Stephen Collins) who is a minister watches over
his flock of five kids with an eagle eye but also with words
of compassion. Once again the writers tackle a variety of
subjects including sexual harassment from a teacher, the issue
of drugs, the menace of gangs all make an appearance during
this active and frenetic second year of the show. ---

Image
and Sound: |
A very nice
transfer from Paramount, “7th Heaven” has nice flesh tones,
vivid colors and sharp images. There are occasional problems
such as edge enhancement and other digital blemishes that crop
up but, on the whole, this is DVD Heaven for fans of the show.
The 2.0 soundtrack is fairly active considering that this is
a drama and not an action show with nice placement of sound
effects. The dialogue is crisp and crystal clear throughout
most of the set. |
The
Extras: |
No notable
extras are included beyond some previews for other Paramount
titles. ---
|
Commentary:
|
No commentary
tracks which is a missed opportunity given the insight both
cast and crew could have cast on the characters looking back
at these early episodes. --- |
Final
Words: |
A fine release
from Paramount that would have benefited from extras and a commentary
track or two, “7th Heaven” looks rock solid with a nice transfer.
The sound has nice warm presence as well. Since you’re getting
the uncut episodes this is a definite plus but extras and a
featurette or two would have rounded out this set very nicely
for fans that have already recorded all the episodes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
