Review:

For the first time in 48 years the very first episode of the original music parody show "Alvin & the Chipmunks" have came out remastered from the original 35 mm film, also on this release is "Rockin Through The Decades" original aired in 1990 and hosted by Will Smith & and "A Chipmunk Reunion" from 1985 ***

When the series just starting it's long run on NBC, it was well worth it for the first episode from the 1960's not so much for the Will Smith hosted special and the tearjerker special with their mom having to give up the boys***

Just after they were born they years later tracked her down and there mom did make one appearance in the ongoing series but this is one of the single most important pieces of recovered lost animation ever!, kudos for the restoration process done by Paramount CBS Studios ***

Image and Sound: Well there's not much i can say about the original episode but the archivist at Paramount did an incredible job on restoring the original 35mm print --- of the first episode

Special Features:

None

Final Words:

Finally a TV classic has finally been released and restored on DVD the series original aired on Oct 4 1961 so for a series being over 45 years old the archivist at Paramount did an incredible job restoring the original 35mm print but my grips are why were the two specials from the 80's were put on this release instead of a few more episodes of the original series were Paramount in the middle of restoring them?, If so all I can say to Paramount is work faster the complete series needs to be out and boo for no archival footage like interviews ETC, but for this one episode it's worth it.
