Review:

In these two volumes Warner Bros Animation decided to get away from the Frank Miller & Christopher Nolan versions of Batman bringing him back to the fun of the the 60's series is good fun and action packed. On disk (1) it's the first (4) episodes from (season 1) in rise of the Blue Beadle in the prologue Batman and Green Arrow stop the Clock Kings plot in the main story, Batman and blue Beadle III go on a mission to stop a rogue asteroid from hitting earth but run afoul of the alien despot Kanjar Ro. In episode (2) terror on Dinosaur island in the prologue Batman & Plastic Man fight Gentleman Ghost during a crime spree during the El dia De Los Muertos Festival to defeat him they get help from fire. In the main story Gorilla Grood creates a machine on dinosaur island that will De-evolve humans into monkeys, it's up to Plastic Man and Batman to stop him. In episode (3) evil under the sea in the prologue Batman & Atom try to stop Felix Faust From opening up Pandora's box in the main story Batman investigates underwater earthquake activity and pays a visit to Atlantis to mean with the city state's monarch Aquaman who is unknown to him his brother Orn is conspiring with Black Manta to take over Atlantis and of course batman and Aquaman team up to take out Black Manta ***

*** In episode (4) Invasion of the Secret Santa's in the prologue Batman and Blue Beadle fight golden age villain Sportsmaster when he crashes a Christmas bowling tournament, in the main story Batman teams up with Justice League member Red Tornado to take on fun haus who plans to ruin Christmas for everyone. In (vol 2) episode (5) day of the Dark Knight Batman is summoned to OA to keep a tight reign on loud mouthed Green Lantern Guy Gardner. When Gardner ticks off a prisoner that was brought in by Green Lantern Kilowog. In the main story after stopping a prison break at the super max prison Iron Heights Batman & Green Arrow are brought to the past by Merlin, he summons them to find Excalibur so it can be used to stop Morgaine le Fey the quest won't be easy when La Fey has control of Merlin's Servent Etrigan the Demon. In episode (6) enter the Outsiders in the prologue Batman teams up with B'wana Beast to take on Black Manta, in the main story Batman joins forces with his old boxing trainer Wildcat to take down three teenagers known as the Outsiders. In episode (7) Dawn of the Deadman in the prologue Batman joins forces with Kamandi to liberate some medicine while avoiding plague carriors called Rat-men, in the main story Batman ends up buried alive by Gentleman Ghost but Batman uses astral protection techniques and has a run in with Deadman who thinks that well Batman's dead with some fast thinking and explaining to Green Arrow and Speedy to dig up his body before he does become a dead man so they can stop Gentelman Ghost from raising an army of corpses ***

In the final episode of (vol 2) episode (8) Fall of the Blue Beatle in the prolougue in flashbacks Batman and the second Blue Beatle try to get back Ted's scarab from Jarvis Kord, in the main story two years after the prologue Blue Beatle III researches his roots after batman's battle with Dr Polaris this leads him to Hub City and the HQ of the second Blue Beatle Jaime steals Ted's Flying Bug aircraft he lands on Science Island where he encounters Jarvis Kord Ha then asked Jaime to activate an army of robots for peacefull purposes of course Kord lied about this to Jaime and Batman and Blue Beatle III take down Kord it's a fun ride through and through.

Image and Sound: Good not great it keeps it's original broadcast picture intact and the sound is decent you can here everything but that's faint praise considering that the first two volums are a bare bones set

Special Features:

None

Final Words:

Now when "Brave and the Bold" was anounced fans groaned loudly that it would be campy and cheesy bringing back bad thoughts of the Adam West era Batman, but those fears were dashed when the series launched and is really good for it's price point between $10-$15. It's a good deal but Warner Brothers should have released a full (season 1) set instead of these smaller (4 to 5) episode sets next time, please take a cue from "Viz and Funimation" release "The Brave And The Bold" and a series set.
