The Best Years is the creation from Aaron Martin, one
of the writers and producers of the popular Degrassi: The
Next Generation. The show debuted on the cable N Network
in the fall of 2007 and quickly became a hit with teenagers.
The Best Years was originally cancelled, but now it has
been picked up for a second season premiering April 3. But
before watching the new season, see how it all began with
all 13 episodes from season one. ***
Season one follows young Samantha Best (Charity Shea,
Alpha Dog), who's been in the foster system since her parents
died. In a strange twist of fate, she's been offered a scholarship
to the ficitonal Ivy League Charles University, where she
finds herself in an unexpected love triangle between Devon
Sylver (Brandon Jay McLaren) and Trent Hamiltion (Niall
Matter), while along the way trying to find her niche in
the world. "The Best Years", Martin said, "is about the
time in a young person's life when they are making the transition
from teenager to adulthood. A time when every decision they
make will determine the type of adult they will eventually
become - a time of invention. I like this age range in story
telling because the characters can make huge mistakes and
yet remain sympathetic."
