TV-Series

Review:

The Big Bang Theory premiered in the Fall of 2007 on CBS. The show is co-created by Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men) and stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, and Sara Gilbert. ***

Big Bang Theory is yet another recent sitcom that has become a huge hit for CBS. The show follows the lives of two genius-level physicists who live in the same building as a good-looking waitress who has higher hopes for herself. ***

Big Bang Theory is a solid series and it only takes watching a single episode to see why it has become such an enormous hit on CBS. The talented young actors bring these characters to life as few others could have. The writing is sharp and the show never outstays its welcome. All 23 episodes are included with the set, which was released just in time to coincide with the release of the third season on TV. ---

Image And Sound:

Like most Warner Bros. DVDs of recent television series, Big Bang Theory looks and sounds excellent. The discs manage to maintain a film-like appearance and don't look overprocessed, but at the same time still look excellent. Audio is naturally dialogue-intensive and front-heavy, which is about what one would expect for a show such as this. Now if only Warner would start putting these recent shows on Blu-Ray (as they aired on CBS's HD channel), this reviewer would be set…

Special Features:

Quite a few featurettes on the disc - something Warner has been good about on a lot of their recent sets. One interesting featurette includes a real-life physicist's look at the show, its characters, and its situations. Another covers the characters and characteristics associated with the second season, and it's essential viewing for any fan. Rounding out the package is the obligatory gag reel - these are always entertaining, and this one proves to be no exception.

Final Words:

Big Bang Theory proves itself as no fluke with the success of its second season - and a third is in the near future. Any fan of the series is strongly recommended to pick up this package - and if you're not a fan yet, chances are this set will make one out of you.
