It’s 2009 and Mila Kunis is still pretty darn hot.
So you would think that “Boot Camp” would have been a shoo-in
for a big exploitation movie. Kunis who was pretty delightful
in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” seems like a natural for
big stardom. With her success in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”
and her gig on “Family Guy”, I would have thought that this
film would have a bigger promotional and a re-release. I
had never heard of it until I had to review it. Directed
by Christian Duguay (“The Art of War”), “Boot Camp” is a
bit…unusual. Kunis plays Sophie who her parents believe
is a troubled teen on the road to ruin. She gets sent to
a boot camp in, of all places, Fiji to try and bring her
back into line. Havoc occurs when her boyfriend Ben (Gregory
Smith) tries to break her out of the place. ***
Supposedly based on a true story, “Boot Camp” offers
Kunis very little to do but what she does do is well. It’s
not a bad film—it’s competent enough just not very inspiring.
On a Saturday night when the movie you want isn’t available
and you’re going to be drinking a bit too much wine and
nod off during the film THIS is the perfect film for that
night. Otherwise, you may want to consider something else.

Image & Sound:
“Boot Camp” marches right up to you in a nice looking
transfer. Colors are quite nice and detail quite good. Audio
sounds extremely good with a nice 5.1 mix. ---
