The fifth season of Emergency continues to follow the
firefighters and paramedics of Station 51, as they hit the
streets of Los Angeles to put out fires and save lives.
The series was a spin-off of a spin-off of another show.
To illustrate, Dragnet spun-off Adam-12, and Adam-12 spun-off
Emergency, which spun-off a Saturday morning cartoon on
NBC called Emergency +4 during the mid-70s about four teenagers
who assisted the team. ***
Season five consists of 23 episodes, with guest stars
such as future TV cop Sharon Gless (Cagney & Lacey), future
Eight is Enough stars Dick Van Patten and Grant Goodeve,
and Wolfman Jack. The DVD also features a 1972 Adam-12 episode
titled "Lost and Found", in which the Emergency team make
an apperance there. This episode also features future Days
of Our Lives superstar Deidre Hall as a nurse at Rampart
Emergency Hospital. ***
