G.I. Joe is the code name for America's daring highly-trained
special missions forces. Its purpose: to defend human freedom
against COBRA, a ruthless terrorist organization determined
to rule the world. ***
With the live-action big screen version with Dennis
Quaid and Marlon Wayans coming out later this summer, the
release of G.I. Joe's first season couldn't come at a better
time. Featuring all 22 episodes, this box set follows the
covert, elite fighting unit sworn to defend the red, white,
and blue against the evil COBRA. The cartoon series premiered
during the height of the Cold War, where there was right-wing
patroitism, as Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, Stallone and
Arnold ruled the box office as modern-day cowboys and he-man
action heroes. ***
The DVD is follows G.I. Joe's struggle for honor and
liberty against COBRA's tyranny, as this four-disc set is
divided into like a four-part miniseries. Part one is "The
M.A.S.S. Device" developed by COBRA, as G.I. Joe takes defensive
action through a weapon of their own. However, COBRA strikes
back in part two; parts three and four brings the war to
"The Pyramid of Darkness", as the battle between good and
evil reaches its peak when our heroes take the fight to
the COBRA Temple. The question, which side will win? ***
