It's time to head back to the Playboy Mansion for another
season of The Girls Next Door. The series follows the life
of Hugh Hefner, creator of Playboy Magazine, and the three
women who live with him in the mansion - Holly Madison,
Bridget Marquardt the animal lover, and Kendra Wilkinson
the jock. With interesting adventures and beautiful women
in every episode, it's one of the best reality TV series
of recent years. And with the girls going their separate
ways, this is the last hurrah with these girls as Hef’s
leading ladies. ***
The set includes all of the episodes from the series'
fifth season. Episodes are divided amongst multiple discs,
with bonus material present on each disc. ***
Ultimately, the final season of The Girls Next Door
is one of the show’s finest, and it serves as a fitting
goodbye to the girls who have entertained us for205 seasons.
Almost needless to say, no fan of the series is going to
be disappointed with this collection of episodes. ---
Image And Sound:
There are no serious audio/visual problems with this
set. The picture is sharp and bright, and audio is loud,
clear, and easy to hear. This is the way a TV show on DVD
should look. It isn’t going to rival a big-budget theatrical
film in terms of audio and video, but for that it is, The
Girls Next Door looks and sounds fine. If you’ve seen the
earlier sets, you’ll have a good idea of what to expect
here. ---

Special
Features: |
The set has commentaries on every episode, which are
a must-listen for any fan of the show – done by the girls
themselves. It’s great to hear about the episodes from their
perspective, and about their experiences. There are also
a plethora of deleted scenes that didn’t make it in to the
broadcast versions, which are essential viewing for fans.
Ultimately, this is a good collection of supplements, though
it would have been nice to have some interviews (besides
the commentaries) on the discs.
