In recent years, The Jonas Brothers have become yet
another Disney-launched musical phenomenon. They have quickly
become some of the most popular musicians out there for
young audience, sporting a family-friendly image. ***
With 3D concert movies being all the rage these days
(and this isn’t Disney’s first one), it seemed only logical
to release a movie like this for the Jonas Brothers. The
end result is this film, which was most likely a money-making
ploy from Disney. Though it’s safe to say fans of the group
are going to have enough fun watching the group playing
their hits that the problems won’t interfere. ***
Let me start by saying that if you’re coming here looking
for an “on the road documentary” type movie with the band,
you aren’t going to find it here. This is strictly concert
footage, with some small scenes thrown in between some of
the performance – none of which feel authentic or give any
sort of documentary feel to the product. But all things
considered, it’s clear that isn’t the kind of product Disney
had in mind. ***
To put it simply, this movie is for all the die-hard
tween fans of the group out there. I doubt any of them are
going to be disappointed with this concert experience. If
youE2re waiting for a documentary-type concert movie for
the Jonas Brothers, though, you’re going to have to keep
waiting. Still, fan won’t be disappointed with that is offered
here. ---
Image and Sound:
Both 2D and 3D versions of the movie, on DVD and Bl
u-Ray formats alike, are included in this set. The 3D effect
doesn’t really do much of a benefit to the product – the
whole movie feels flat and colors rarely create that illusion
of depth that is so vital to a 3D presentation. On the other
hand, though, the standard 2D version looks VERY good for
a “music Blu-Ray.” Detail is much better than you’d expect
from this sort of presentation. Audio quality is superb,
as well, taking advantage of the audio capabilities of the
format.
