All rise! Court is now in session! We have DVDivas
judge Garrett Godwin presiding, with Hamiliton Burger (William
Talman) for the prosecution, and for the defense, we have
none other than the one and only Perry Mason (Raymond Burr),
for the case of Perry Mason: Season Four, Volume One: containing
all 14 episodes (cases) out of 18 from the most successful
long-running lawyer show in the history of television. ***
Guest stars -- defendants and/or clients --includes
future Oscar-winning actor, director, and Sundance founder
Robert Redford, whom tesified in "The Case of The Treacherous
Toupee" that his character, Dick Hart and his newlywed wife
actually saw who killed a ruthless company president. Louise
Fletcher (One Flew Over the Cockoo's Nest) and future tough
guy James Coburn (The Magnificent Seven, Our Man Flint)
are also on the list, as Mason's client list this season
consists of a cosmetic queen, a circus clown, and a citizens'
watch organization. With the aid of loyal secrertary Della
Street (Barbara Hale) and investigator Paul Drake (Willam
Hopper), he fights for them as he seeks to uncover the real
killer and bring him or her to justice. ***

Perry Mason: Season Four, Volume
One has been found guilty of not having any extras with audio
commentaries from Redford, Fletcher, and Coburn on their time
there on the series, guilty of not having any moral ambiguity
about the legal system (pre-Law & Order and Raising the Bar),
but not guilty of showing that good triumphs over evil once
again. Case dismissed! |
