All rise! Court is now in session, with Ben Matlock
(Andy Griffith) for the defense -- featuring all 20 episodes/cases
from season three of Matlock. Ben's clients this season
includes recurring neighbor Les "Ace" Calhoun (Former Mayberry
Deputy Barney Fife himself Don Knotts), an British ambassador,
and one of his heroes: a blues singer charged with murdering
a rock musician. This marks the last season for Kene Holliday
as Ben's investigator Tyler Hudson, who was fired due to
his problems with drugs and alcohol. Like Linda Purl, who
played Matlock's attorney daughter Charlene for only the
first season, Holliday didn't get along with his co-stars.
***
You can say that Matlock is like the Perry Mason of
the South: the defense attorney with honor, humility, and
integrity who doesn't want to win the case, but cares about
his client, whom he believes is innocent and sets out to
bring the true killer to justice -- in open court. There's
no rest for Matlock, who is determined to prove his client's
innocence and solve the case. ***
