Produced by the BBC and the Discovery Channel, Nature's
Most Amazing Events is a two-disc DVD set that chronicles
six segments showing the link between nature the evolution
of our planet Earth. The segments are "The Great Melt",
"The Great Salmon Run", "The Great Migration", "The Great
Tide", "The Great Flood", and "The Great Feast". ***
Narrated by David Attenborough, the first segment deals
with the effect global warming has on the Arctic region,
as the second takes us to the Alaska river, where it goes
into the co-relation between the annual salmon spawning
that takes place and the rest of the inhabitants -- with
bears who depend on salmon as the main purpose of this.
Next, we go to someplace warm to the deserts of Africa to
look at lions treking to the Serengeti to follow zebras,
and remain in Africa for the next two segments. ***
First, we travel to the oceans of South Africa to explore
the mating and eating habits of several sea-faring characters
such as pilchards. Then, we're at Botswana to look at other
animals adapting to their changing living conditions. Finally,
we go up north to Canada to check out natural selection
firsthand, where there's only one law between coastal creatures:
eat or be eaten. ***
