Princess Protection Program is directed by Allison
Liddi-Brown and stars Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Nicholas
Braun, Samantha Droke, and Robert Adamson. ***
A young princess is about to become queen of her country,
but is overthrown during an uprising. She is sent to live
in a typical USA town, where she lives with a father and
Carter, his tomboyish daughter. Once here, she begins attending
high school and immediately becomes immensely popular –
and tries to Carter fit in at school better so that she
can ask her crush to the forthcoming school dance. ***
Yes, Princess Protection Program is quite predictable
and has clichés galore. But it’s a surprisingly good movie
as well. The characters are actually appealing, and the
situation held my attention for the film’s duration. ***
Princess Protection Program is that rare film that
is appropriate for all ages, and perhaps more importantly,
will actually have some appeal with just about every audience
that will give it a chance. With talented young stars, an
intriguing premise, and humor that isn’t offensive but still
manages to get a few laughs, it’s a fine film. Any film
whose target audiences is young girls but it still manages
to make me (a male in his 20s) laugh is well worth recommending.

Image and Sound:
The picture quality here is very good, better than
this reviewer expected from a TV movie. Colors are bright
and clear, and there is no print damage or dirt to detract
from the experience. Most of the sound is dialog ue, and
it all comes through clearly.
