The gang of Reno 911 is back on the beat again, as
the popular Comedy Central series continues to bring more
law, laughs, and disorder in season six, recently released
on DVD. We all know the opening to Cops: ***
Bad boys, bad boys, what you're gonna do? What you're
gonna do when they come for you? Bad boys, bad boys, what
you're gonna do? What you're gonna when they come for you?
***
Well, Reno 911 is a spoof of that meets Police Academy,
as Lt. Dangle (Thomas Lennon) is in charge of leading this
unlikely unit of misfits protecting the people of Reno,
Nevada. Though it doesn't have glitz and glamour as Sin
City, somehow crime and injustice runs rampant in that town,
and Reno 911 is on top of it (so to speak) and on the job
(well, sort of). ***
Dangle was narrator in two of this season's episodes.
"Holy poop, I thought we got cancelled" he said in the opener,
as the squad responds to a crackhead accused of bothering
goats -- while dressing like a cow; they also must deal
with a suspected fired employee who won't leave his office,
and a Ku Klux Klan winemaker. In episode 611, Dangle narrates,
as the gang comes to the aid a doctor badly hurt in an auto
accident, and must operate on him at the scene. In the process,
Dangle left his cell phone inside the patient after sewing
him up, so I guess in the end, the good doc got some vibration
back in him, right? Sorry, bad pun intended. ***
