Review:

Welcome back to those Helicon days of old Saturday Morning Cartoons of the 1960's and 1970's in these double disk sets of cartoons from the era many of which have not been released on neither blu-ray nor DVD. On Saturday morning cartons of the 60's the excerpted episodes include 3 episodes from Johnny Cypher In Dimension Zero, Peter Potamus in Fe fi fo fun, the Flintstones and the infamous episode, the Flintstones flyer in which Fred cooks up yet another harebrained plan and drags poor barney along for the ride in this he tries to build a helicopter but as usual it blows up in Fred's face. There are (3) excerpted episodes from the Porky Pig Show as well as (1) episode from Frankenstein Jr (not to be confused with Grant Morrison's Frankenstein Jr from the revival of seven soldiers of victory) and the Impossibles and (3) excerpted episodes from the Adventures of Aquaman, Menace of Black Manta plus (2) episodes of the Herculiods and surprise surprise the non campy version of Space Ghost (not the ultra cheesy 4'Th wall breaking version that was on adult swim) with Dino boy and a zorak bonus episode attached to it ***

*** Superman the Force Snatcher, the jetson's has a date with Jet Screamer, and the Roadrunner show with one oddly titled episode Beep Beep / Satan's Waitin/ Chili Con Carnie and Magilla Gorilla Gridiron Gorilla and three episodes from the 60's era Tom & Jerry Show which are actually redone and censored shorts from the (40's) no bones about it / an ill wind Beach bully. and on Saturday Morning Cartoons of the (70's vol 2) the tone changes somewhat it's still light and fluffy but some more interesting series do pop up it's a decent enough sampler of cartoons, through one question does begged to be asked why include Scooby Doo the Flintstones & the Jetsons when these have already came out in full DVD season sets of there own. ***

Image and Sound:

Decent on both vol's Warner Brothers tried to restore the picture quality but with the faded and dated quality for some of these series they may never get full DVD or blu-ray series sets.

Special Features:

Only 2 commentary tracks & documentaries on both vol's absolutely nothing to write nor praise about here on these releases.

Final Words:

If your really a retro animation fan these two disks might be a good sampler but since the majority of these episodes have been released in their respective series sets with the exceptions being "The Road Runner Show" "The Porky Pig Show" and "The New Adventures Of Superman" not to be confused with "Superman The Animated Series" which aired on "Kids WB" in the late (90's) but if these disks are a test bed to figure out what series Warner Brothers might release in full series sets get these disks as a good time capsule for days gone by.
