The 8th Season of Scrubs was the first to air on ABC,
as a mid-season replacement. This was following 7 successful
seasons of the show on NBC. ***
The show has been wildly successful since it debuted
so many seasons ago (has it been this long already?) For
those of you not familiar with the series, it follows a
group of friends working together in a hospital, who must
face not only the trials of their various patients, but
also the drama of everyday life. Scrubs isn’t an “always
serious” medical drama like ER, nor is it always a “laugh
out loud” slapstick-laden experience. It’s just the right
balance of drama and comedy, which is one of the reason
s it has lasted so long. ***
This 3-disc set contains every episode from the show’s
8th season. Although only a DVD set of this season is being
released on 8/25/09, a Blu-Ray version of the season is
slated for a November release, so if you have a Blu-Ray
player, you may want to hold off until then. ---
Image and Sound:
As a recent TV series, Scrubs looks and sounds pretty
good on home video. The image is bright and clear, and doesn’t
suffer from any major negative issues. Audio is, naturally,
front-heavy and the dialogue always audible and easy to
understand.

By the time most shows hit Season 8, studios have usually
run out of bonus material. Not the case with Scrubs. There’s
a nice, small assortment of bonus material presented here,
including outtakes, alternate lines, bloopers, Webisodes
of the series, and even a question and answer session. It’s
not a massive collection of bonuses, but for a TV series
such as this, it’s more than enough.

Final Words:
|
Scrubs is the perfect mixture
of comedy and drama, and surprisingly, the quality of the
show has never dropped. It’s as fresh now as it was when it
began airing 8 seasons ago. With a solid transfer and some
interesting bonuses, this package comes recommended! |
