The Tiger’s Tail is directed by John Boorman and stars
Brendan Gleeson, Kim Cattrall, Ciaran Hinds, Sinead Cusack,
Sean McGinley, and Angeline Ball. It was first released
in 2006. ***
A successful Irish business tycoon capitalist has the
perfect life – at least he has until now. Now he is being
followed by a mysterious and vile doppelganger who wants
to take everything away from him – not the least of which
is his sanity. As everything he worked so hard for begins
to go horribly wrong, Liam must discover the mysterious
nature of his new foe before he loses it all – and possibly
his life. ***
The Tiger’s Tail is the kind of movie that is rather
slow-paced at first, and if you don’t pay attention, you’ll
be lost down the road. But if you can make it through the
often dull first act, it’s an intriguing thriller that will
hold your interest and never let go. Just the same, though,
you will benefit from repeat viewings. ***
The Tiger’s Tail is a solid thriller thanks to a top-notch
director and a talented cast. While I myself was not familiar
with any of these actors prior to seeing the film, there
is no denying that they suit the material here perfectly.
Sure, the movie isn’t perfect, and it sta rts off a bit
on the slow side. But there’s no denying this is an above-average
thriller that will make a good timekiller on a boring night.

Image and Sound: The film gets a solid transfer for
its DVD release. It’s not a drop-dead gorgeous transfer
that’s going to win any awards, but for what it is, it gets
the job done. Audio fares just as well, with a few spectacular
scenes here and there that take advantage of it. Long story
short, it’s not an exceptional DVD transfer, but for what
it is, the movie looks and sounds about as good as it can.
