Review:

Nickelodeon's version of Ugly Betty, True Jackson, VP follows the 15-year-old female protagonist (Keke Palmer), who's suddenly thrust into the fashion world as the vice president of youth clothing at MadStyle, but never forgetting where she comes from -- and who her real friends are. Her assistant Lulu Johnson (Ashley Argota) and MadStyle web designer Ryan Laserbeam (Matt Shively) have been True's BFFs for a long time, as she starts to find possible romance with her boss' nephew Jimmy (Robbie Amell), and animosity with Amanda Cantwell (Danielle Bisutti), who keep trying to have Tru fired to remain top fashion diva, but slowly starts warming up to her competitior. ***

With season two premiering November 14, now is the time to catch up with the first 13 episodes of season one, as True discovers that the world she's in now is just like high school, and she must prove that she belongs at MadStyle. Guest stars on this set includes comedian/actor Andy Richter, as True is tempted by an rival of MadStyle's for a job offer. She also learns the hard way that there must be a line between business and personal, which almost cost her friendship with Lulu, as they and Ryan gets into all sorts of trouble every week but remain the best of friends. ***

Special Features:

Behind-the scenes, bloopers, cast screen tests, NY Fashion Week: Behind the Scenes at the Barbie Fashion Show

Final Words:

In True Jackson's words: "you say what now?" Well, what I'm saying is that the volume one of True Jackson's first season is available right now on DVD. ***
