Review:

It's the last flight for the Hackett brothers and the gang of Wings. The show, aired on NBC from 1990 to 1997, was created by the same people responsible for the acclaimed, Emmy-winning Cheers (1982-93) and Fraiser (1993-2004). Some critics even called Wings a sequel to Cheers -- except the setting was in Nantucket Airlines. ***

Season eight (24 episodes) starts off with Joe (Tim Daly) and Helen (Crystal Bernard) heating things up at Brian's house -- literally! Well, you know what they say: what goes around comes around. However, they finally moved into their dream house. This season finds Brian (Steven Weber) trying to find a meaningful relationship -- but got Jenny McCarthy instead! Also, he and on/off girlfriend Casey (Amy Yasebeck) fall for hot mama Shannon Tweed -- and her equally hot son. A three-part episode almost found the brothers "Wingless", and it's "Final Approach", as the one-hour finale finds Helen rediscovering her passion for cello-playing and the brothers finally finishing the treasure that brought them together -- leaving one to make the brotherly sacrifice for the other. ***

Daly's post-Wings career includes devilishly handsome Dr. Pete on the hit ABC Grey's Anatomy spinoff Private Practice, while his onscreen brother Weber scored recurring roles on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and CBS' Without A Trace. ***

Final Words:

The final season of Wings is clear for takeoff -- landing straight to you on DVD. ***
