The
Review |
This archive CD was recorded live
at the Glasgow Apollo in 1985, the first tour to feature Alan
Reed on vocals, replacing original singer Euan Lowson. Though
not entirely essential for its bootleg sound quality, this
and the first volume(River Sessions 1 featuring Euan Lowson)
are historic doccuments of key periods of the Scottish neo
band's developement. Here, Pallas deliver an energetic set
based on then-current material including selections from their
'Knightmoves' EP and the next album 'The Wedge', as well as
a few earlier gems. Highlights include a stellar 'Sanctuary'
and the unreleased rocker, 'Dinosaur', which never ended up
on any Pallas record. The band is alive and well, though sadly
the sound quality is pretty much of an 'official bootleg'
type affair. This archive release is pretty much for the collector,
but serves as a decent reminder of how energetic Pallas must
have been back in the day. For better sound and a slightly
extended set, one should be pointed in the direction of the
LIVE FROM LONDON DVD, which is another show from this same
era and duplicates this set(with the extra tracks CUT & RUN
& NIGHTMARE), in fact get both-one for the car and one for
the tv.
